How to Uninstall Adobe CS2

Adobe CS2 (the term CS stands for ‘Creative Suite) is a collection web development, graphic design, and video editing application from Adobe Systems.

In this article, we will cover the following topics:

  • How to uninstall Adobe CS2 using its uninstaller in the Add or Remove Programs utility.
  • How to manually remove Adobe CS2 files and registry entries (in case they are not deleted when you uninstall Adobe CS2 using Add or Remove Programs).

Before we begin, please understand that these instructions are for removing Adobe CS2 premium. In case you have Adobe CS2 standard version installed then all the applications and components listed below will not be present on your Windows computer.

Uninstall Adobe CS2 using its uninstaller

According to Adobe, the best way to uninstall Adobe products is by using their uninstaller in the Add or Remove Programs utility.

Adobe CS2 uninstaller is designed to remove everything installed with Adobe CS2.

To uninstall Adobe CS2 via Add or Remove Programs, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Select Adobe Creative Suite, and then click Remove.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall Adobe CS2.
  4. In the Add or Remove Programs window, select Adobe SVG Viewer 3.0, and then click Remove.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall Adobe SVG Viewer.
  6. Restart your computer.

Typically, you should be able to remove all traces of Adobe CS2 using this method. However, at times, especially when some files of the program are damaged or due to partial installation, some files or folders pertaining to Adobe CS2 may be left behind on your system.

If this is the case, then use the steps listed in our next section to manually delete remaining files and registry entries of Adobe CS2.

Manually remove Adobe CS2 files and registry entries

Before you begin, you need to complete the following two tasks:

Task 1 – Set Folder View options to display hidden files and folders

  1. Right-click My Computer icon on your desktop.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
  4. Click the View tab.
  5. In the box below Advanced Settings, select Show hidden files, folders, or drives, and clear Hide extensions for known file types.
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK.

Task 2 – Turn off Adobe Version Cue CS2

  1. Open the Control Panel window.
  2. Double-click Adobe Version Cue CS2.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Select Off from the Version Cue CS2 menu.
  5. Unselect Turn Version Cue CS2 On When The Computer Starts, in case it is selected.
  6. Unselect Show Version Cue CS2 Tray Icon, in case it is selected.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Restart your computer.

After you have restarted your computer, manually delete the remaining folders and files for Adobe CS2.

Open Windows explorer, navigate and delete the following folders and files:

Important: This section requires you to edit the Windows registry, which is an important component of a Windows system. Make a registry backup before you edit it, as then you can roll back the registry to its previous working state if any problems occur. You may use a reliable registry maintenance tool, such as RegGenie to back up the registry and to perform various other registry maintenance tasks.

Logon to your Windows computer with administrative rights. Next, run the regedit command to open the Registry Editor and locate and delete the following registry entries.
